NIVHA provides a fully integrated urine or oral fluid collection service.
It is essential that the entire collection, testing and reporting of results is carried out using a strictly controlled and auditable process. This ensures that results are always attributed to the correct individual and the integrity of the sample is maintained and tracked between collection and analysis.
All our procedures adhere to European Guidelines which incorporate the following features:
- Collection - carried out using competent staff, normally qualified nurses, who have been trained in the sample collection protocols. Donors are always treated in a professional manner and the possibility of sample adulteration or substitution is minimal. Donor identity is assured by photographic ID or management validation.
- Chain-of Custody kit - incorporates bar-coded ID, donor consent, declared medication, sample adulteration check.
- Security - samples are sealed in tamper-evident packaging.
- Analysis - Chain-of Custody protocol extends through laboratory testing process.
- Results - results are anonymous and are attributed to particular individuals through the bar-coding system.
